DICING BLADES Nickel Bond (Hub & Hubless)
Dicing Blades - Nickel Bond (Hub and Hubless) Asahi Diamond's ultra-thin dicing blades employ special ELECTRODEPOSITING techniques to create blades with high-rigidity, high precision, and long life. Two types are available - Hub-style blades and hubless-type (ring) blades. |

With the many years of experience in precision diamond blade manufacturing Asahi Diamond can supply you with a wide selection of blade specifications. Blades are available in hubstyle, hubless, with slots, or with a beveled edge. The chart below is an example of the various GRIT SIZES, CONCENTRATIONS, BONDING STRENGTHS AND DRESSINGS available. If you are looking to reduce chipping, increase blade life or cut speeds the many choices allow you to make subtle adjustments to the blade to achieve the most optimal results possible.

SUN MIGHTY BLADE Generally a resin blade is used when cutting substrates that can load the diamonds, generate too much heat, or diminish the cutting ability of the blade. The drawback to resin blades is they wear faster than metal or nickel blades. Asahi Diamond has recently developed a new nickel bonded blade named "Sun Mighty". Its unique bond and cutting edge allow it to cut BGA and QFN substrates, along with ceramics, glass and composite materials.

The clearance between the diamond area and the metal core, allows for easier removal of the cutting particles and an increase in cutting ability. This helps to ensure consistent kerf widths, long blade life and better cut quality than a standard nickel blade.
Below is a comparison between a Sun Mighty blade and a standard nickel blade, both with a #400 mesh size.

This comparison shows the edge profile of each blade after dressing and cutting of test substrates. The reduced tapering of the Sun Mighty blade edge produces a steady kerf widths ensuring precise final die size.
